Everyone sleeps. But not everyone sleeps in the same way.

The average person requires 7-8 hours of sleep. Some people can get by with 6 hours - others require 9-10 hours to function at their full ability.

Over the past century, sleep time for Americans has decreased by 20%. Television and the Internet are the prime contributors to Americans not getting enough sleep by causing them to stay up later than they should.

Many Americans are sleep-deprived

  • 50% report sleepiness on the job interferes with the amount of work they accomplish.
  • 40% of workers say they have trouble staying awake on the job.
  • 69% of American adults experience frequent sleep problems.
  • 80% of respondents say more sleep would benefit overall health, safety and well-being.
  • Over 50% of all Americans reported to have driven while drowsy over the past year and nearly 20% claimed to have dozed off while driving.
  • 100,000 auto accidents occur each year because of fall-asleep crashes.
