Benefits of Office Nap Rooms

Long gone are the days of nap time at kindergarten or even sneaking in that half hour snooze in your dorm room between classes. Most people would never even think about taking a nap at their office in the middle of the day. But believe it or not, a new trend surrounding work place nap rooms is emerging in today's tech and startup world. More and more employers are agreeing that creating comfortable rooms for resting and napping is a smart move for their company.

Increased Productivity
Sleep is an important part of everyday health and the majority of today's workforce does not get enough of it. A lack of sleep and the resulting restlessness may not always produce the best workflow at the office. Even just a short nap can leave employees feeling more alert and ready to tackle that stack of papers piling up on their desk. Those who feel rested are less likely to make errors or simple mistakes in their daily tasks.

Rested Employees
People's lives outside of the office are typically just as busy as their work day. From waking up early for the gym to traveling for meetings with clients in another time zone, many people rarely have time to get a full night's sleep. Without feeling rested, it may be more difficult to get everything accomplished during the day. Having the opportunity to incorporate a short nap between emails and presentations could make all the difference.

Happy Employees
Almost everyone hits that 2 o'clock hour where they're in desperate need of a caffeine pick-me-up to get them through the end of the day. If they don't fuel up, they're likely to crash and get less work accomplished. However, nap rooms offer a more natural alternative to the late afternoon coffee. Even a 20-minute nap can leave an employee feeling re-energized, and often times that energy translates to happiness. Employees who no longer need to battle that daily fatigue because they know that they can nap during the day are going to be happy employees. A relaxed, well-rested team of workers is going to work harder and faster.

Just as adding a gym or cafeteria to an office building enhances the culture, so does a napping room. Promoting a comfortable balance between work and play is one of the best ways to promote a positive culture within any given company.
